Many
words were written about the Dordogne, on its wealth, its beauty,
its miracles.Land of the origin of the man,the cradle of humanity,it's
above all the harmony of time,a whirlwind of colours, flavors, extremes
savours; and especially a masterful and warm nature. It's in this
region which knew how to preserve its qualities of life, that we propose
you a journey through time. We don't pretend to be able to summarize
millions of years in some lines, we stopped presenting you briefly
the most striking periods of time of our region;whichso numerous vestiges
constitute the alive witnesses of past. |

prehistory begins there're several
hundreds of thousand years. It establishes a long period commencing
during the appearance of the man on the Earth, and continuing until
the first discovered means of modern communication:the writing, and
so came the beginning of the history. It's in 1868, that was found
the first Homo Sapiens Sapiens called Cro-Magnon man, near the village
of Les Eysies. The Man of Combe-Capelle, listed as the oldest Homo
Sapiens Sapiens known in Europe at present, is found, later, in
1909 at the cliff of Combe-Capelle near Saint Avit Sénieur and near
Montferrand du Périgord in the valley of Couze. The origin of this
deposit would go back to 35000 years before Jesus Christ.

Witnesses
of hundreds of years of sharing of influence with (among others
) the kingdom of England;more than 1000 castles, abbeys, and numerous
momuments classified in the Dordogne offer an unique occasion to
discover in this region, the architectural evolution through time
since the previous history of the man until our days. To consult
